Auto Delete Old Messages.
By default the Message app in iOS keeps your messages forever. This permanent storage can gobble up a fair sized chunk of storage. You now can manage how long messages are kept: from Settings > Messages > Keep Messages, toggle the option you want: 30 days, 1 year, Forever.
