Sometimes you need to charge your phone fast. The fastest way to do that? Turn on Airplane mode. With all sending and receiving of data cut off, your phone will charge much faster. Just be sure to leave the backlight off, too.

USB Ports That Don't Charge
Many USB ports don't have enough power to charge an iPad when the iPad is on. Try turning the iPad off and then giving those low-power ports another try. It's likely that they will then be able to charge your iPad.
